The Scientific Congress of Hellenic Medical Students (S.C.H.M.S.) is the flagship event of the Scientific Society of Medical Students of Greece (S.S.H.M.S.).
It has been organized annually without interruption since 1995, each year hosted in a different city that is home to a medical school. Its goal is to bring together the broader medical community under a common purpose: the scientific and personal development of future doctors, and by extension, the advancement of medical science in our country.
The academic and medical community has wholeheartedly embraced S.C.H.M.S., as evidenced by the participation of thousands of health sciences students and hundreds of professors, as well as numerous resident and practicing doctors. Combined with its high scientific standards, S.C.H.M.S. ranks among the most enduring and well-attended medical congresses in Greece and Europe.
During the conference, students are given the opportunity to develop a scientific and research project that is in line with their interests, to familiarize themselves with the preparation and presentation of scientific papers, to contact renowned professors, but also to meet their fellow students from all over Greece and abroad. The subjects of the conference touch on a very wide range of scientific developments in all medical specialties and are guaranteed to cover the special interests of each participant. Overall, the S.C.H.M.S. serves as a powerful springboard for students, providing them with stimuli from various directions that ultimately help them build a more solid foundation for their scientific and personal identity.
The conference includes:
- The 19th International Forum of Medical Students and Junior Doctors with recognized scientists from Greece and abroad
- The 29th Medical Olympiad, a medical knowledge competition for preclinical and clinical students
